How to create queues and categories

Procedure

You can customize your Queue Bank by creating queues and categories specific to your needs.

To be able to add queues and categories, you must be signed in using an SU duty code. If you are not assigned an SU duty code, see your Local Security Administrator.

Creating Queues

When you add queues to the Queue Bank, the System does not automatically place PNRs on those queues; you must do it manually.

When creating a queue, use the transaction code QA followed by the queue number and the number of categories. The minimum number of categories is 1 and the maximum is 255.

To create a special queue number 40 with one category, enter:

QA40C1

The System response is QUEUE ACTIVATED. If you receive the response ENTRY NOT AUTHORISED, you are not signed in using an SU duty code. If you are not assigned an SU duty code, see your Local Security Administrator.

To create a dual queue, include the last date in each date range in the format by including the letter D followed by the date. Each date range is separated by a dash. For example, to create Queue 41 with 3 categories with date ranges, enter:

QA41C1D7MAR-8MAR-9MAR

By creating these date ranges, PNRs will fall on Category 3 the day after tomorrow, and will move forward one date range each evening. The amount of days between date ranges can be any amount of days apart.

Creating Categories

Every queue must have at least one category. If you want to create multiple categories while creating a queue, include the letter C followed by the number of categories. The categories are created starting with zero, so the categories created are 0 through 24.

To create Queue 41 with 25 categories, enter:

QA41C25

A date range is created for each category created.

If you use sign category association, you should only use categories 20-255. To add a range of categories to an existing queue, use the transaction code QAC. For example, to add Categories 21-35 to Queue 40, enter:

QAC40C21-35

Component Identifies
QAC Transaction code to add a range of categories
40 Queue number you are updating
C C for category
21 Beginning category number
-35 Dash and ending category number

To create one specific category, use the same format you would to create a range, but the beginning and ending numbers are the same. For example, to create Category 25 for existing Queue 41, enter:

QAC41C25-25

Your next step is to name the queues and categories created.
